    Imelda Siska Oktaviana M. 2021. Formulation and Inhibitory Test Of Red Galangal Rhizome Extract (Alipinia purpurata K Schoum) Againt Streptococcus mutans. Supervised by Mirfaidah Nadjamuddin and Tendri Ayu Adri. This study aimed to formulate red galangal rhizome extract (Alipinia purpurata K Schoum) as a mouthwash to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria and to see the area of the inhibition zone in inhibiting Streptococcus mutans bacteria. This type of research was an experimental study conducted by formulating and testing the inhibitory power of mouthwash preparations with ethanol extract of red galangal rhizome (Alipinia purpurata K Schoum) against Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Data colletion techniques used the statistical analysis method ANOVA (analysis of variance) type one way ANOVA. The results showed that the formulation of the red galangal rhizome extract (Alipinia purpurata K Schoum) as a mouthwash could inhibit bacterial growth with an average area of inhibition zone for mouthwash preparations with red galangal rhizome extract at a concentration of 1%, 5%, and 10% obtained mouthwash preparation. Which is effective in inhibiting Streptococcus mutans is a concentration of 10% with an average inhibiting zone of 9.06 mm in the medium category.
