    Selvian C Pelmelay. Factors related to verbal abuse in students of SMP N 19 Makassar. (Irwansyah and Sri Rahma Haruna) Background: Verbal violence is an act carried out in the delivery of abusive words and also verbal abuse or verbal abuse is an act in the form of insults, harassment carried out through words or communication patterns. Verbal violence is also an action that is expressed through speech that contains insults, yelling, cursing, and frightening with inappropriate words. Objective: Knowing the factors associated with verbal violence in students of SMP N 19 Makassar. Research Method: This study used Cross Sectional research design. By sampling using Proposive Sampling instrument, research using questionnaire data analysis using Chi-Squere test. Results: obtained the results of the chi squere test variable family factors with verbal violence showed a value (p = 0.000<0.05) means there is a relationship between family factors and verbal violence, environmental factors (p = 0.007>0.05) means there is no relationship between environmental factors and verbal violence, physical factors (p = 0.038>0.05) means there is no relationship between physical factors and verbal violence. Conclusion: Factors related to verbal abuse in students. that in family factors there is a relationship with verbal violence, in environmental and physical factors there is no relationship with verbal violence.
