Abstract

Induction of labor is an act against pregnant womento stimulate the onset of contractions. One of the causes of asphyxia his mother is a nuisance. Somecircumstances in the mother can lead to reduced blood flow through the placenta, so that the flow of oxygen to the fetus is reduced, it can cause asphyxia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of induction of labor with oxytocin drip in hospital incidence of neonatal asphyxia in Hospital Syekh Yusuf Gowa The design of this research used analytical design with cross sectional aproach. The population in this study wass all maternal woment treated in RSUD Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal in January - December 2013 as many as 1206 respondents. The sample used purposive sampling as many as 354 respondents. The results from 128 respondents to the induction of maternal oxytocin drip that asphyxiated infants were 64 respondents (18,1%) and not experiencing asphyxia of 64 respondents (18,1%). The result obtain that from 226 respondents not to the induction of maternal oxytocin drip that not experiencing asphyxia of 145 (41 %) are higher than those who do not experiencing asphyxia as many as 81 (22,9%).Analysis results obtained p value = 0.013 (α= 0.05) means that there is a relationship of labor induction with incidence of neonatal asphyxia in Hospital Syekh Yusuf Gowa. Efforts to reduce the incidence of neonatal asphyxia can bedone by the midwives to identify problems early pregnancy and labor induction of labor with oxytocin drip administration, and done the right and proper supervision to clients with drip oxytocin induction of labor to prevent neonatal asphyxia.
