Abstract
Mitral regurgitation is a disorder of the heart where the mitral valve does not close
properly when the heart pumps out blood or can be defined as an abnormal reversal of
blood flow from the left ventricle to the left atrium trough the mitral valve. This is due to a
disturbance in the mitral valve apparatus. Echocardiography is excellent for diagnosing MR
and assessing diastolic function on MR. The purpose of this study was to determine the
method and results of measuring left ventricular diastolic function using the mitral inflow
Doppler method in patients with severe mitral regurgitation. This study used a descriptive
type of research with a case study research design in mitral regurgitation patients which
was carried out by echocardiography examination. The number of samples in the study was
one samples. In the results of this study, it was found that the diastolic function was
impaired gr 2 where E/A=>2 with severe mitral regurgitation classification.
