Abstract

Mitral regurgitation is an abnormality in the mitral valve, where the valve leaflets cannot close completely, resulting in backflow from the left ventricle to the left atrium during systole. This backflow of blood causes volume overload in the left atrium and ventricle. Echocardiography is a tool for the diagnosis of mitral valve disordes and for measuring the severity of mitral regurgitation. The a im of this research was to know the method and results of measuring the severity of the regurgitant partner using the vena cintracta method and Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area (PISA) methods on echocardiographic examination. This research used descriptive research method with the research design is a case study with a sample size of 1. The results of this study showed that VC 0,6 ccm and EROA PISA 0,3 cm and RV 39 ml indicated moderate regurgitation partners.
